In 2021, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) evaluated the benefits and impacts of potential improvement options for U.S. 69. KDOT and FHWA completed an Environmental Assessment (EA) and issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) on February 15, 2022.
In 2022, a Re-Evaluation was completed to analyze potential impacts from a small change in the NEPA Footprint. It was approved by FHWA on November 3, 2022.
